I always watch my favorite east coast fashion bloggers go apple picking during the fall every year and wish that I could go with them! This year, I was determined to find an apple orchard on the California Central Coast that would allow visitors to actually pick their own apples. I looked high and low, and wasn’t having much luck until my friend recommended SLO Creek Farms!
SLO Creek Farms is a family owned and operated certified organic apple orchard located in San Luis Obispo. The apple orchard spans over 44-acres, with 3 of the acres growing organic vegetables, organic herbs, honey, beautiful flowers, and is conveniently located right off the 101.
Apple picking is a fun family-friendly activity that’s great for children of all ages! Once you’re done walking through the rows of apple trees and picking your favorite vibrant dahlias, there is a lawn area where you can hang out and enjoy your afternoon. I noticed a lot of families setting up a picnic and enjoying SLO Creek Farm’s hard cider! You can purchase their cider at the farm stand where they also have lots of apple-inspired products to take home, such as homemade apple sauces, sprays, salves and tinctures.
What I really love about SLO Creek Farms is its casual and mellow environment. I’ve been to a lot of farms lately, such as the Avila Valley Barn, and noticed the hustle and bustle presence. SLO Creek Farms is quieter, although still very busy, and offers a different type of experience that I recommend. If you’re not a fan of loud and big crowds, then I recommend starting here! You’ll notice a soothing, relaxing, and therapeutic feeling.
SLO Creek Farms also offers various classes, such as a Lavender Workshop, which is happening this Sunday, October 25th, 2020. There are two classes to choose from:
- Salve and Tincture from 1 – 1:45 pm
- Spray, Roller, and Body Scrub from 1:50 – 2:30 pm
It’s $35 per workshop or $65 for both. It includes a Lavender Botanical Cocktail or Mocktail. You will harvest organic lavender on the farm, learn about the different types of lavender, and make herbal products for everyday use.
Be sure to share your SLO Creek Farms experience with me!
