Sunday is one of my favorite days of the week because it’s great for reflection. Most people dread Sundays because it symbolizes the end of the weekend and start of a new work week. But, if you love what you do, then it’s exciting to hop back into the week, right?
“Sunday scaries” are real, though, and I’ll acknowledge that. The physical mind and body experience when Friday arrives is exciting and causes our stress levels to come down, but when Sunday night comes, they reappear again.
This is why having a Sunday routine, filled with activities that you love, is so important! Ideally, my Sunday starts with some sort of a workout and is followed up by heading to the Farmer’s Market in Goleta to grab some fresh new flowers for my room. Flowers bring me happiness, immediately!
I don’t run errands on Sundays, otherwise it messes with my rainbows-and-unicorns mentality, but I do like to plan out my week ahead of time. For example, I’ll be sure to spread out fun activities, errands, and things I really need to accomplish evenly so that my introverted self won’t get too burned out if a lot of social time is involved.
Most importantly, I like to accommodate time for Sunday spontaneity! This week included sailing with two of my girlfriends, Kim and Katie, at the Santa Barbara Sailing Center. Sailing allows me to feel closer to my grandpa, who passed away while I was in college. He was Commodore of the Santa Barbara Yacht Club and was the longest living member when he passed away! Sailing was his passion, so it holds a very special place in my heart.
Kim, Katie, and I enjoyed the highly sought-out Folded Hills 2017 Sparkling Lilly Rosé and a delicious charceuterie board made by my talented friend Sivlia from Goodland Graze. The Folded Hills 2017 Sparkling Lilly Rosé is currently sold out, however, you can still enjoy their prized 2019 Estate Lilly Rosé.
Even though I was exhausted by the time Sunday sailing came around, it was still the best way to end the week. I was surrounded by great friends, who are driven and inspiring, while relaxing out on the ocean. Being able to see the shore as the sun was setting reminded me that tomorrow was Monday, however, being so far off the shore also felt like I was worlds away. It was the perfect balance.
